When you think of horror cosplay, Lucyfer is a name you should know. Based in France, Lucyfer brings her love for horror films, video games, and photography to life through her imaginative, blood-soaked creations. From twisted unicorns to custom Predator costumes, she’s got an eye for turning the dark and fantastical into something unforgettable. But that’s not all. She’s also a photographer who captures the gritty, vintage side of horror, specializing in everything from slasher films to the 80s/90s vibe.
Lucyfer’s cosplays aren’t just about looking cool at conventions. They’re intricate, layered, and often heavy, both in weight and design. Her passion for the genre shines through every detail, whether she’s crafting blood-soaked characters from scratch or collaborating with artists for her larger-than-life projects.
Let’s jump right into our small talk with Lucyfer about her horror cosplay creations!
What’s your favorite horror movie, video game, or book, and has it influenced any of your cosplay choices?
“It’s tricky to pick, but for now, it’s The Black Phone. Ethan Hawke as the ‘Grabber’ is perfect! I also love classics like Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and Friday the 13th. These are the films that first pulled me into horror. They even got me collecting horror memorabilia. That collection grew into something bigger when I finally decided to take the leap into cosplay. On top of that, I’ve been a photographer for a year, focusing on horror-themed shoots with an ’80s/’90s twist. You can check my work at Lucyfer_Photographie.”

What’s the story behind your favorite horror cosplay?
“It has to be my Bloody Unicorn. It’s not inspired by any character—it’s a wild creation from my imagination. I wanted to mix the purity of a unicorn with something dark and grotesque. So I took this majestic white creature and gave it a sinister, blood-soaked twist, sort of like a macabre version of Pennywise. Yeah, it’s a bit out there, but that’s what I love about it!”

What’s been your most memorable or challenging moment while cosplaying a horror character?
“My custom Predator cosplay from Predator: Hunting Grounds has to be the toughest—and most rewarding—cosplay I’ve done. It really steals the show at conventions in France. People love it, and it’s a real crowd-pleaser. But wearing it is a challenge. The suit weighs 15 kilos, and it gets ridiculously hot inside—30 degrees, easy. The suit wasn’t built by me, though. I ordered it from an amazing company in Spain called BoggianoArt. I only painted the armor myself. Oh, and it was my most expensive cosplay too—it cost me €3500!”

What’s the most important detail when you’re putting together a horror cosplay—makeup, costume, or something else?
“For me, it’s all about the makeup and the costume. They need to match in style and color. I’m really into bloody cosplays, so my outfits tend to reflect that gore. Everything has to be as disturbing as possible—or maybe not! As long as it stands out and makes people think twice, I’m happy.”

What’s one horror cosplay you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t had the chance to create yet?
“I’ve always wanted to do Springtrap or MoonDrop from the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe! I’ve been obsessed with FNAF since I was in middle school. My love for horror started with Creepypasta and SCP, then grew with games like Dead By Daylight, Friday the 13th: The Game, and, of course, FNAF and Poppy Playtime. And don’t forget horror movies—I’ve been surrounded by them all my life.”
What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting their cosplay journey?
“Believe in yourself. Don’t worry about what others think, as long as you’re happy with what you’re creating. Start slow, take your time, and have fun with it! Be proud of your work before you worry about pleasing others.”
