The Macabre World of Indie Horror: November 2024
It’s an exciting time to be an indie horror fan. I think anytime a film like Terrifier 3 can hit the #1 spot at the box office, it gives all horror filmmakers hope. The fans have spoken and it’s unanimous, they want more gore and violence. I know just the group of maniacs to deliver. There are a plethora of directors churning out content by the bucket loads… of blood.
Hungry for Horror? Feast on Human Hibachi
You want something nasty? You need to look no further than Mario Cerrito’s Human Hibachi franchise. The first two films of the cannibal trilogy are arriving on the new found footage streaming platform, “FOUND TV” this November. The third installment of Human Hibachi will star scream queen, Debbie Rochon and goes into production early 2025.
Disney Gets Dark: Mickey’s Twisted Turn
A glimpse into the horror future also features Michael Moutsatsos’ unique take on Disney’s Mickey Mouse with his twisted tale, “Once Upon A Killing Time”. We are also teased by a lost satanic film from the 1980’s titled, “The Baphomet Seance”. It has resurfaced from hell and awaiting a release.
Meanwhile, the film festival scene is a buzz… or a roar. “Bears of Ship” from director Eduardo Castrillo is tearing it up on the circuit. If the bears don’t get you, then you’ll certainly be decimated by Ash Hamilton’s end of the world anthology, “F’d: The Tale of the End Times”.
Tubi’s Treasures: More Indie Horrors to Sink Your Teeth Into
Tubi continues to stay true to horror fans with offering a respectable selection of monstrous goodies. Frank Palangi’s “Souls of the Damned” and Rich Mallery’s “Maid Droid Origins” will open the imagination of any indie horror enthusiast. Don’t look past Dillon Brown’s “Tahoe Joe 2” for a good night of scouring the countryside for creatures. Heck, spend a night and binge watch all these bad boys.
It’s almost time to go, but not before Indiegogo. Let’s explore the horrors of tomorrow. There is a marvelous documentary from Frank Pulciani called, “Making Horror” that explores the convention scene and is loaded with interviews from your favorite genre personalities. Joshua Winch is hell bent on bringing back the glory days of 80’s horror with plenty of sex and gore with this feature, “Fangs”. It sounds like something we can really sink our teeth into.
