Previously: As the pirates reveled in their triumph, an ominous presence stirred in the murky depths. Something hungered, concealed beneath the waves, biding its time. A creature of unknown terror, concealed in the shadows, poised to strike.
The feast marked the triumph of the pirates over the Spanish colony. Gold, provisions, and even women fell to Captain Ravenlock’s crew—a merciless gang, sparing no life. Among them a sole survivor, Colonel Constanza, destined for execution the following dawn. The pirates’ grisly plans often involved tortures, euphemistically called ‘pirate persuasions’—beatings, whippings, cuts, and the cruel placement of lit matches between fingers. Their favored method? A cord cinched around a captive’s head, squeezing until eyes bulged.
That night, all were drunk, singing loud some pirate songs:
“With cannons booming, our colors unfurled,
We’ve conquered the seas, our victory swirled.
In triumph we sing, our foes all fled,
For this moment we rule, all enemies dead“
Colonel Constanza, the lone survivor, his mind haunted by thoughts of his beloved wife and daughter, resigned to the bitter truth—he’d never lay eyes on them again.
Awakening of a Sinister Force
Around 5 A.M, a strange silence fell upon the wooden deck of the Ghostly Mariner. As the pirates snored, drunk and nearly out cold, something wicked surfaced from the ocean’s depths. It looked like a woman, but it was nothing close to human. Glowing yellow eyes stared out, holding a terrible, dangerous force. To withstand its gaze was tough, but what followed was even scarier.
The creature scaled the ship in a blink and targeted the first sleeping pirate outside the captain’s cabin. As the pirate roused and grasped for his knife, claws pierced his chest. Blood replaced air, the creature indifferent to the agony it inflicted.
Another pirate, awakened to relieve himself, stumbled upon the ghastly scene. Before he could scream, the creature’s claws silenced him, blood mingling with urine as the lifeless body plunged into the sea.
The commotion roused the remaining pirates and Captain Ravenlock. They sensed menace, rallying with weapons drawn, torches illuminating the ship’s darkest corners. Before long, the ship echoed only with screams and the sight of blood stained its every surface.
Confused, Colonel Constanza heard the chaos but remained bewildered, bound and unable to intervene. He awaited, powerless. Footsteps echoed on the deck, measured and ominous. Then, he bore witness to a horrifying spectacle—a blood-soaked creature, its creepy smile haunting every man’s dreams.
The creature shattered the cell’s lock with a claw, advancing towards the Colonel, who, gripped by fear, shut his eyes and prayed in Spanish.
A Terrifying Bargain
Colonel Constanza: “Dios te salve María, llena eres de gracia, el Señor es contigo.”
A chilling female voice whispered near:
Creature: “Do you think prayers can save you, Colonel?”
Startled, he reopened his eyes to find the creature looming, its voice an unsettling contrast to its appearance.
Creature: “I won’t harm you. In fact, you’ll be the sole survivor of this ship.”
Colonel Constanza: “Why spare me? Why me?”
Creature: “Rise, Colonel. You have a family awaiting your return.”
An Enigmatic Release
With a claw, the creature severed the ropes binding the Colonel’s hands. Injured, he struggled to stand and turned away.
Colonel Constanza: “Who are you?”
He asked, but when he looked back, the creature had vanished.
He fled the cursed ship, swimming to an adjacent island, collapsing on its shore. In his left hand he even kept the cutting ropes of his imprisonment. Gazing out to sea, he witnessed the Ghostly Mariner consumed by flames. Amongst the inferno, two yellow eyes stared back at him. Colonel Constanza, the sole survivor of the Ghostly Mariner never returned to that island, keeping the tale locked away, untold even to his family.
